Team Omega

So here's something I worked on a few weeks ago to go along side that Vigilantes line up piece.
This is the current iteration of Team Omega in their undersuits, which are the battle suits they wear as protective gear under the civies they always wear.
No Superhero outfits for these guys

Elemental
Bullet
Spade
Archer
Pulse
Veneer

And just for comparison, this was something I did about a year and half ago.
Same team, completely different approaches.
Glad i got rid of the costumes, just doesn't fit these guys.

a cat woman

So with all the hubbub with the Dark Knight Rises redesign, I just figured I take my own stab at her, because for the most part, I’ve never really thought about her costume much before. And as I was mulling it over, as much as I like the Darwyn Cooke design, the old Julie Newmar version really struck me as fitting her character a lot more. Granted, I think of her much more lighthearted than a disgruntled former prostitute. I personally like the character better as an overly playful fashionable femme fatale, so i took a far more flashy stance to the costume than a realistic one. I find that the realistic believable approach only goes so far, because, come on, this is superheroes. They shouldn’t have to make complete 100% sense. They need an element of spectacle and iconography. I’m still waiting for the Batman movie with grey cotton tights.

So, because of another project I'm working on, I got the urge to draw my favourite pkmn of all time.

Reuniclus

Gonna try to do some more, work down my list of favs. This'll be a good/quick subject matter for the Daily Draw February going on over at SatelliteSoda.

collabs

This is a collab I did with Pac.
His colours, my lines. Which you can see below

Now this one, is over a year old.
My half of a collab with Chris Copeland.
As you can see, it's the Avengers vs Justice League.
Nothing ever came of this piece. I still like some of the drawings though. That Namor is terrible however.

Lantern's Light

Here's a speedpainting I did as a break from my film.
I just wanted to practice some lighting, and who better than someone who is practically made of it.

The Ryan Reynold's likeness was totally by accident.

Ulysses S. Grant

"I know only two tunes: one of them is "Yankee Doodle," and the other isn't."

I wanted to make him look like he is really drunk and barely able to open his eyes to look at you.
Personally I don't think I got it too well, but it's time to move on.

Done as a companion piece to Sophie's AWESOME General Lee

Okay, im never gonna get this thing done, so I may as well just post it.
The main reason for this was just an excuse to use real inks again. So I decided to make a piece of my favourite Marvel characters. Man, I'd wish there was a new team book with these guys, written by brubaker. Best book in the world, that'd be.

doom

So during the same conversation that I mentioned in the last post, I began wondering how I would redesign one of the greatest villains over at Marvel.
(we were talking about comic villains if you haven't noticed)

Doom as a character is singlehandedly one of my favourite villains, because at his core he is so not a villain.
Like magneto, he is a man doing what he thinks is what is for the greater good for himself and his country, his methods can just be villainous and often times ruthless.
At his heart, he is a man that can ally with you, as long as your needs are aligned.

Doom has some of the single most iconic design elements of all comic characters, so I really wanted to keep it.
I just hate the medieval armour look to him, cause it's extremely campy and dated.
I wanted to keep the sort of medieval vibe, but make him far less clunky and more regal.

after a conversation with classmate, I have come up with my three favourite Batman villains.
I could make the argument that these are my favourite DC villains, but that would probably involve another conversation first.
Granted, as anyone who knows me knows, I'm not a Batman fan, and to extent a DC fan.
I like it just fine, sure, but we all know I'm a marvel boy at heart.

Anyway, these would be the three that I want to be the villains of a batman movie. Then I might actually care.

a time traveler

I did this for this month's theme over at Planet Pulp, which is time travel.
It may show my lack of age, but the first thing that always comes to my mind when thinking about time travel is Cable. Which stems from the fact that my first exposure to time travel was the Cable storyline from the X-men cartoon from the 90's.

P:R Invincible ReDesign

My entry for the Invincible Redesign contest over at Project : Rooftop.
This one was pretty hard for me to get something that either wasn't too similar to the original design, nor one that relied heavily on my go-to design elements.
Pretty happy with what came out. especially the tone of the blue.

forgotten faces

Just some facial studies i did of some original characters.
As an exercise to just get a grasp on these characters better, there were actors that we are pulling from as a jumping off point. as you can see, there are hints of them within the face design as well. some more evident than others.
Hopefully down the line, the likeness' of each character will become second nature when drawing them, so the designs will become more natural.

batman amended

So here is a batman i just cranked out while taking a break, Sort of surreal because I got everything pretty much on the first try.
I think all the changes are pretty evident. I originally wanted to do something where the logo is black and had a circle behind it that silhouetted it, but I couldn't get a good shape/logo size that worked, and this is what I ended up with.

3 down from my Justice League. 5 to go. Some expected, some surprises.

Guardians of the Globe

So a couple months ago, i was contacted by Robert Kirkman to do a final issue for a mini series he was doing called Guardians of the Globe.
That issue came out today.
here are a couple select pages from it.
its funny to see the changes of style between the first image and the last, which are a couple months apart.
the first panel on the second page is probably my favourite i did for the series.
